Today, I RID an old backup hard drive.
One of the things the RID project has made me think about is how easy it is to avoiding RIDding your “digital stuff.”
Giving away one physical item per day for a whole year is a challenging project. But the rewards are obvious. My apartment looks cleaner, more streamlined. And my head is clearer and more focused.
But what if I did this project digitally? Truly got RID of the digital files I didn’t need anymore. But it’s just oh so convenient to just keep backing it all up?
My suspicion is that it wouldn’t have the “cleaner apartment” takeaway, but might really help contribute to the “cleaner head” takeaway.
Perhaps some inspiration for August 1, 2012?
