November 15, 2010 – CDs, the G’s.

Goodbye, old friends.

It’s a “CD giveaway” day – today, the G’s. Some highlights…

Peter Gabriel – Like a lot of American youth, I came to the Peter Gabriel party through a little album called, “So.” He continues to amaze me through his sonic innovation, human rights orientation, and overall “Renaissance Man-ness.”

Jeffrey Gaines – Introduced to him years ago thanks to his being an opening act for Melissa Etheridge. One of those artist who has remained in obscurity for far too long. If you haven’t heard his version of Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes” — go to iTunes immediately, and give it a listen.

The J. Geils Band – My first “real concert” – that is, alone and on my teenaged “own.” They hit Omaha the day “Freeze Frame” hit number one, and played long into the night. To this day, one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen.
